Gulf Nong Saeng Demonstration Farm
Food is a basic physiological need and agriculture is a major sector of
the labor market. People worry that having a power plant located in their community will affect their
livelihoods and ability to grow food. Gulf strives to ensure that our company creates a positive impact on
the communities we operate in. In 2015, we established a demonstration farm and learning center for new
agriculture theories where, in keeping with the late King Bhumibol’s philosophy of sufficiency economy, we
teach members of the local community how to effectively grow rice, kitchen garden vegetables and herbs,
seasonal and perennial crops, and other local produce as well as how to farm fish, make organic fertilizer
and utilize agricultural products for other uses. We have been able to demonstrate that power plants do not
have any impact on agriculture. Visitors to our center are able to use the knowledge they have gained from
the visit to apply to their own agricultural practices, resulting in a large number of people from near and
far coming to observe and learn about how to improve their own communities.
