What about Solar
Q&A
Frequently asked questions about Gulf Solar Business.
Green Power Plant
Natural Resources
GULF is working towards providing energy efficiency solutions and developing energy resources of the future, including other renewables.
Are there engineering standards which support design and installation of the project?
Our Civil Engineer will sign off the design certification and weight and Electrical Engineer will sign off the Certification of Electrical System Design.
How much does the Solar Rooftop Installation cost?
Customers do not have to invest. With Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) project, Gulf1 will be the investor of the project and maintain all systems throughout the contract period.
Are there any expenses incurred after installing the Solar Rooftop?
There is no cost for system maintenance. Customers will only receive a discount on electricity bills from the project.
What does Gulf1 get from installing Solar Rooftop?
GULF group aims to expand its products and services in renewable energy market in response to the trend toward decarbonization. Gulf1 earns from selling electricity to project customers.
How about the cost of maintenance (Preventive Maintenance)?
For the PPA project, Gulf1 will be responsible for the maintenance of the power generation system throughout the contract period without any cost.
After the Solar Rooftop system has been installed, will there be any effects on the use of various machines in the factory?
There is no effect since the solar rooftop power generation system will be synchronized with the same frequency as the original power supply and does not cause any impact on the equipment in the factory.
In the event that there is a response when the weather conditions change, will the inverter cause Under Voltage and affect the machine or not?
The voltage level is based on the grid which the solar system is connected. When the weather changes or when there are rains, clouds are blocked, the light intensity decreases, these will affect the energy produced only (energy output). It will not affect the device or go under voltage because the inverter serves to convert power from DC to AC only.
Does the inverter cause harmonic disturbances to the machine or the Control System? How to manage it?
PEA and MEA certify devices which have Harmonic Distortion not more than 5% according to the specification. As for HUAWEI inverter (100kW), it has not more than 3% of Harmonic Distortion, so it does not affect the machine.
How about the Inverter Warranty?
The inverter equipment has 5 year-warranty from manufacturer. For customers, we will take care of the equipment throughout the contract.
If the inverter has a problem, what will happen?
In the event that the inverter system has a problem, it will not be able to produce electricity from the Solar system because it is the main device to convert electricity from DC to AC, which can be checked from the Monitoring system, alarm via the Fustion Solar system and Gulf1 will respond to take action quickly.
What is the emergency response plan (fire, lightning, windstorm, etc.)?
Since Gulf1 has multiple sites installed in Thailand where all are different, we have organized system equipment trainings and procedure, for example, cutting the system or installing fire extinguishers and various methods of use which can be combined with the additional factory emergency plans. However, if these things happen, you can immediately call our On Call team as well.
How strong and durable is the installation?
The design will be in accordance with the standards of EGAT and TCDC, including selection by considering the impact strength of various materials, both panels and mounting (jigs), which will be compacted (Torque) according to the equipment installation standards (ISO16047 and Longi solar panel installation standard)
If there are damages caused by storm, what are the steps to recover?
In the event of damage caused by wind storms, Gulf has the industrial all risk insurance, third party liability insurance.

- If the equipment of the Solar system is damaged or in the event that a wind storm causes the solar system equipment to fall off and damage the customer's property, Gulf1’s insurance will cover all compensation. For example, the storm causing the solar panels to blow away and hit the customer's building or any persons causing injury, etc.
Any troubleshooting methods and suggestion in the event of fire incident?
According to the design, if there is a power leakage, there will be a separate ground system to allow leakage current to the ground by the Inverter (AFCI system cut off at 300ms) and the DC Fuse Box will automatically cut off and notify an alarm for correction and check the leakage point before returning to activate again.
Project Reference
How does fire protection work?
Solar Cell's fire protection system has an inverter (AFCI cut-off resistance 300ms) and DC Fuse Box in every string of connections and has equipment used to extinguish fire in case of emergency, namely Class #C fire extinguishers used to extinguish electrical equipment.

- However, in case of other fire events on the roof, we recommend customers install a fire suppression system to support the fire fighting on the building, such as increasing the flow rate and pressure of the pump or the fire water pipe near the building, in order to be able to extinguish the fire on the building, etc.
