Gulf Group recently organized the “GULF Sparks Energy” activity to inspire young minds and
promote
sustainability. The event invited 127 elementary school students from grades 5-6 at the Eastern
Sugar Company Community School in Pluak Daeng District, Rayong Province, to explore the fascinating
world of energy. Through engaging activities, GULF volunteers, known as ‘GULF Asa’ from the Gulf SRC
Power Plant educated students about energy sources, clean energy and waste separation to empower
young learners with knowledge and practical skills with the purpose of cultivating a generation of
environmentally conscious citizens who will drive a sustainable future.
Mrs. Ruangkit Suthiwirat, Principal of Eastern Sugar Company Community School, stated “Gulf Group and
Eastern Sugar
Company Community School share a long-standing and positive neighborly relationship. For over a decade, GULF
has demonstrated commitment to the school’s educational mission by providing significant support. This
includes funding for two additional contract teachers to enhance student learning, renovations of classrooms
and the cafeteria, and contributions to various school activities, such as sports day and environmental
initiatives. Today’s ‘GULF Sparks Energy’ activity is a prime example of this ongoing partnership. By
engaging with students through interactive workshops, GULF volunteers have provided valuable insights into
energy sources, clean energy practices, and the importance of waste separation. This aligns perfectly with
the school’s Eco School status, which emphasizes environmental consciousness and sustainable practices.
Through these collaborative efforts, GULF and the school are fostering a deeper understanding of the
interconnectedness between industry and community, inspiring the next generation to become responsible
environmental stewards.”
Ms. Saranya Suriyasang, Contract teacher, Eastern Sugar Company Community School, shared “We
extend our sincere gratitude to GULF for organizing the
‘GULF Sparks Energy’ activity. The interactive bingo activity base was particularly engaging, providing
students and teachers alike with valuable insights into renewable energy, clean energy, and waste
separation. We are confident that our teachers will effectively integrate this knowledge into their
lessons, maximizing the impact of today’s experience for all students.”
Nanticha Suksa-nguan and Tidarat Naloi, participating
students, highlighted, “I learned a lot from GULF staff about different sources of energy and the
importance of waste separation to reduce air pollution. The waste separation base was especially
interesting. I now understand the different types of waste and can apply this knowledge to my daily
life, both at home and outside.”
“GULF Sparks Energy” initiative aims to inspire young minds and foster a deeper understanding of energy.
By exploring various energy sources, clean energy practices, and the importance of waste separation,
this program empowers the next generation to make informed choices and contribute to a sustainable
future.
