Gulf Energy Development Plc. (GULF) supports an acquisition of an endoscope for minimally
invasive spine
surgery to the Advanced Microscopic and Endoscopic Spinal Surgery Center (AMESC) at Police General
Hospital. The purpose is to enhance the hospital’s ability to perform these procedures, leading to
faster patient recovery times and reduced side effects. This initiative aligns with GULF’s mission of
“Powering the Future, Empowering the People”, emphasizing the company’s dedication to 3 main aspects:
health, education and the environment. The company aims to conduct business in tandem with improving the
quality of life of people in the society in a sustainable way.
Mr. Sarath Ratanavadi, Chief Executive Officer, GULF, stated, “GULF group is proud to play a
vital role
in providing this cutting-edge endoscope to Police General Hospital, which underscores our commitment in
supporting technological advancements for the well-being of communities, which extends to include
healthcare innovations. By upgrading the hospital’s technological capabilities through enabling access
to the latest, most effective minimally invasive spinal surgery, we believe this effort will
significantly strengthen the hospital’s ability to care for police officers, their families, and the
broader community as a result. We hope that this new technology will ultimately aid an ailing officer’s
speedy recovery, their ability to perform their duty, and their quality of life as a whole.”
Pol. Lt. Gen. Sopnarush Singhajaru, Assistant Commissioner General, Royal Thai Police and
Secretary-General, Police General Hospital Foundation under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the
Queen, stated, “Police General Hospital extends its sincere gratitude to GULF for their generous
donation of 10 million baht. This vital contribution has enabled us to acquire a state-of-the-art
endoscope, empowering our surgeons to perform minimally invasive spinal surgeries. This advanced
technology will significantly enhance our care effectiveness and elevate the level of medical services
we provide. We are truly thankful for GULF’s recognition of the need for advanced medical equipment.
Their continued support, especially during the challenging COVID-19 period, has been invaluable. Their
generous donation to the Police General Hospital Foundation under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the
Queen, specifically funding the procurement of an electric spine surgery instrument and
volume-controlled and pressure-controlled ventilators, has significantly improved patient care. The
donation of these life-saving tools perfectly aligns perfectly with the government’s vision of
establishing Thailand as a leading medical hub within ASEAN region.”
Pol. Lt. Gen. Taweesin Vetvitarn, Surgeon General (Level 8), shared, “Spinal problems are a
growing
concern in Thailand, affecting both police officers and the general population. Factors such as aging,
lifestyle habits, and poor office work ergonomics can contribute to these issues, leading to chronic
pain, joint problems, and even difficulty walking in severe cases. When necessary, surgeons may
recommend endoscopic surgery, a minimally invasive approach made possible by modern advancements. This
technique utilizes a high-powered camera, allowing surgeons to perform intricate procedures with greater
precision. By avoiding large incisions, endoscopic surgery minimizes tissue damage, leading to faster
recovery times, lower complication risks, and a quicker return to daily activities.”
GULF is committed to giving back to the society, focusing on health, education, and the environment. In
healthcare, the commitment involves providing essential medical equipment to various hospitals for
long-term patient benefit. Initiatives include establishing a smart hemodialysis center with
high-efficiency dialysis machines at Thammasat University Hospital, renovating the Pak Kret dental
center for underprivileged patients in collaboration with Dent Chula, supporting public health projects
like the ‘Powers the Dreams’ scholarship program for patients at Princess Sirindhorn Craniofacial
Center, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital of the Thai Red Cross Society. Additionally, the GULF
Sparks Smiles mobile dental project, now in its 4th year, periodically provides free dental care across
Bangkok and other provinces to the under-resourced communities. These efforts demonstrate GULF’s
dedication to improving the quality of life and ensuring equal access to quality healthcare for all
Thais.
