Building on the success of the "Green Energy Green Network for THAIs" project, Gulf Energy
Development
Plc. (GULF), in collaboration with Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS), is
launching its
second year of initiatives. After positively impacting six regions across Thailand by enhancing access
to essential infrastructure, creating employment, and fostering income generation, GULF is now setting
its sights on Chiang Mai Province. In 2025, Ban Huay Pong Phatthana, located in Chai Prakan District,
will become this year’s inaugural pilot site. The project will install solar panels at the Mae Fah Luang
Hill Tribe Community Learning Center, providing clean, solar-generated energy. This initiative aims to
bridge the energy and digital divide, reduce inequality, and empower the local community through
enhanced educational opportunities. Ultimately, the project seeks to facilitate sustainable career
development and income generation, contributing to long-term community well-being.
Mr. Tanon Tantisunthorn, Executive Officer, GULF, emphasized, “As a company involved in energy,
infrastructure, logistics, and digital
services, we believe in integrating sustainable practices into our core business. Our goal is to create
shared value for everyone involved, using our expertise to support community, social, and environmental
development. This aligns with our 'Powering the Future, Empowering the People' philosophy. Building on
our 'GULF Sparks, Life Starts' initiative, we have partnered with AIS to expand our 'Green Energy Green
Network for THAIs' project. Essentially, we are bringing clean, solar-powered electricity and digital
connectivity to remote communities. By installing solar panels and solar-powered base stations, we're
helping to bridge the gap, providing access to essential energy and digital resources. This directly
translates to improved educational opportunities, better access to public health services, and pathways
for career development, ultimately reducing inequality."
“Last year, thanks to the collaborative efforts of many partners, we successfully launched this project
in six remote communities. We reached Ban Dok Mai Sod and Ban Moko Poke in Tak Province, Ban Mae To La
in Mae Hong Son, Ban Phi Pan Nuea in Chiang Mai, Ban Mae Mong Yao in Chiang Rai, and Ban Khun Kong in
Lamphun. Together, we generated over 22 kilowatts of electricity. This has made a real difference,
providing more than 4,000 people with access to basic infrastructure, expanding educational
opportunities, strengthening public health systems, and opening doors for career development.
Ultimately, this leads to job creation, increased income, and a sustainable improvement in their overall
quality of life.”
For 2025, GULF and AIS are continuing the ‘Green Energy Green Network for THAIs' initiative for its
second year, focusing on expanding clean energy connectivity. The first community selected is Ban Huay
Pong Phatthana in Chiang Mai's Chai Prakan District. This Lahu village, despite its proximity to the
city, lacks reliable electricity. Consequently, many children miss out on education due to financial
constraints, hindering their ability to communicate in Thai. The village's Mae Fah Luang Hill Tribe
Community Learning Center, where city teachers provide evening classes, suffers from a lack of
electricity and essential teaching resources. To address this, GULF has installed solar panels to
generate clean energy, transforming the learning center into a hub for education and connection. GULF
has also provided crucial teaching equipment, enabling the community to access educational opportunities
and connect with the outside world through computers and mobile phones. The center will also serve as a
communal meeting space during evenings. Furthermore, the solar-generated electricity will power the
community activity area during the Kin Wo tradition, the Lahu New Year’s festival, illuminating their
cultural celebrations.
GULF and AIS, through their 'Green Energy Green Network for THAIs' project, will continue to bridge the
gap in access to public utilities, expand access to essential electricity and telecommunications in
remote areas. This ongoing effort aims to reduce inequality, improve living standards, and foster
sustainable economic growth.
