Gulf Energy Development Public Company Limited (GULF) continues to build on its success with the
second year of
“GULF Sparks Energy” project. Targeting schools in Chiang Rai and Loei provinces, this initiative aims
to enhance Thai children and youth’s understanding of energy. Through engaging and insightful
activities, students will delve into various energy sources, explore the origins of energy used in daily
life, and learn the practical workings of energy production. The program emphasizes the importance of
responsible energy consumption, aiming to instill a mindset of efficiency and sustainability. GULF is
committed to expanding ‘GULF Sparks Energy’ to bring fun energy education to children across all regions
of Thailand.
“GULF Sparks Energy"” project, now in its second year, to schools in Loei and Chiang Rai provinces. From
February 20-21, 2025, students at Ban Sangao School (Pak Chom District) and Chiang Khan School (Chiang
Khan District) in Loei experienced hands-on learning about energy. This was followed by sessions at
Wiang Kaen Wittayakhom School (Wiang Kaen District) and Chiang Khong Wittayakhom School (Chiang Khong
District) in Chiang Rai from February 25-26, 2025. The project’s core mission is to enhance energy
literacy through engaging, play-based learning. Students explored five interactive activity bases:
fossil fuels, wind, solar, hydropower, and waste separation. These stations were designed to teach the
principles of electricity generation while fostering essential life skills like teamwork, creativity,
problem-solving, and communication. By combining fun experiments with practical activities, ‘GULF Sparks
Energy’ successfully instilled awareness about responsible energy use and environmental stewardship.
Ms. Kochakorn Teeta, a Mathayom 2/1 student at Chiang Khan School, Chiang Khan District, Loei
Province, said, “The hands-on activities made learning about
energy fun and real. I was particularly interested in hydropower, given our school’s location near the
Mekong River. It’s fascinating to see how water can power our lives”
Mr. Phayung Phochai, Director of Chiang Khan School, , said, “We are grateful to GULF for
bringing this valuable learning experience to our students for the second year. This program allows
students in our remote area to explore diverse energy sources. They can apply this knowledge to their
studies and daily lives.”
Mr. Sutthikorn Jaingamphongpaw”, a Mathayom 2/1 student at Wiang Kaen Wittayakhom School, Wiang Kaen
District, Chiang Rai Province, said, “GULF Sparks Energy program to be a
valuable learning experience. The ‘My City’ activity was my favorite. We had to collaborate to design a
city and plan its energy infrastructure. Through this, I gained a deeper understanding of various energy
production processes. After learning from the five activity bases, our group chose to focus on
hydropower, recognizing its potential as a pollution-free energy source given Chiang Rai's proximity to
the Mekong River”
Ms. Patcharin Novichai, Head of Academic Administration Group and Lecturer of Science and Technology
Learning Group, Wiang Kaen Wittayakhom School, Wiang Kaen District, Chiang Rai Province, added,
“While students learn about energy in science classes,
it’s often limited to textbook knowledge. ‘GULF Sparks Energy’ program provides a valuable opportunity
for experiential learning. Through hands-on activities and experiments, students gain a deeper
understanding of energy concepts while having fun. This approach not only enhances their academic
performance but also develops essential skills like teamwork, collaboration, and communication.”
‘GULF Sparks Energy’ exemplifies GULF’s commitment to sustainable community and social development under
the concept, “Powering the Future, Empowering the People” philosophy. This project aims to elevate
