Gulf Energy Development Public Company Limited or GULF presented a
donation of 4 million baht to Rajavithi Hospital, 4 million baht to Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases
Institute and 1 million baht to the Central Chest Institute of Thailand to fund the procurement of
lifesaving medical equipment for COVID-19 patients and those whose heart and lungs are unable to fully
function. The much-needed equipment includes high flow oxygen therapy devices, Bi-level Positive Airway
Pressure (BiPAP) machines, transport ventilators, and central patient monitoring stations.
Mr. Sitamon Ratanavadi, on behalf of Mr. Sarath Ratanavadi, Chief Executive Officer, Gulf Energy
Development, Public Company Limited stated, “Gulf Group is committed to consistently supporting public
health and medical programs. Considering the current situation, we realize that the medical devices and
equipment are in short supply, so we would like to help fund the procurement of these essential
equipment to improve the hospital’s capacity to tackle the rise in COVID-19 cases.”
“Gulf Group would like to give encouragement and thank all medical personnel and healthcare workers on
the frontline for their relentless hard work during the coronavirus pandemic. We hope that everyone’s
cooperation will help to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases soon,” Mr. Sitamon Ratanavadi reiterated.
Dr. Apichat Wachiraphan, Director, Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute, said, “Bamrasnaradura
Infectious Diseases Institute greatly appreciates the support from Gulf Group. The money will be used to
purchase medical equipment because if the hospital has more ventilators, it will help patients with
moderate to severe symptoms receive more effective care and increasing their chance of survival.
Although this disease is scary, it could be prevented if everyone practices social distancing and has
social responsibility. If we cooperate, we will be able to keep the situation under control.”
For the Central Chest Institute of Thailand, Dr. Anek Kanoksilp, Director, said, “Since COVID-19 is a
disease concerning the lung and the respiratory tract, we therefore need to be more prepared to
accommodate the increasing number of cases, both in terms of preparing medical facilities and medical
equipment. We need at least a 2-hour lead time to prepare before each infected patient comes in for a
treatment so that we can ensure the highest level of safety for our medical staff and the patients
themselves. Gulf’s donation to support the purchase of medical equipment for the Central Chest Institute
is extremely beneficial for COVID-19 patients receiving treatment from the hospital and will help the
medical team work more efficiently.”
“Rajavithi Hospital would like to express our sincere appreciation to Gulf Group. The donation will
contribute to the procurement of a number of lifesaving medical devices that will definitely benefit and
save the lives of patients,” added Mrs. Nongnart Sattaphol, Head of Finance and Accounting Department,
Rajavithi Foundation.
GULF places great importance on supporting the development of medical facilities in the local
communities surrounding its power plants, as well as public health and well-being initiatives that
benefit the general society, such as providing financial support of 20 million baht to the Faculty of
Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital for the procurement of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) machines
and ventilators for COVID-19 patients, supporting the construction, development and renovation of
medical facilities, and supporting the education of medical students to ensure sustainable learning and
long-term benefits for society.
